چکیده

Polar microorganisms produce physiologically active substances to adapt harsh environments, and these can be used as biomedical compounds. The green microalga Micractinium variabile KSF0031, which was isolated from Antarctica, produced phytol, a natural antimicrobial agent. Furthermore, several polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), including omega-3, exhibit antioxidant properties. Here statistical methods (Plackett-Burman design Box- Behnken design) were optimize the culture medium of KSF0031 improve biomass production, K2HPO4, MgSO4·7H2O, ammonium ferric citrate (AFCg) selected significant components medium. Polyunsaturated fats attenuate the dietary phytol-induced increase in hepatic fatty acid oxidation in mice.

The effects of dietary phytol and the type of dietary fat on hepatic fatty acid oxidation were examined in male ICR mice. Mice were fed diets containing 0 or 5 g/kg phytol and 100 g/kg palm, safflower, or fish oil for 21 d. Among the groups fed phytol-free diets, the activities and mRNA abundance of various enzymes involved in fatty acid oxidation were greater in mice fed fish oil than in those...

The Effect of Dietary Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid on Skin Wound Healing in Chronic Diabetic Rat

The potential role of omega – 3 (ω-3) and omega - 6(ω-6) fatty acids on wound healing is of interest and controversial. In the present study, the effect of dietary intake of fish oil (ω-3 diet ) and corn oil (ω-6 diet) on skin wound healing has been investigated in rat. This experimental study was performed on four groups of male rats (one normal group and three diabetic groups). Diabetes was i...

Production of the polyunsaturated fatty acids arachidonic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid by the fungus Pythium ultimum.

Several strains of species of the fungal genus Pythium, and of Phytophthora cinnamomi, were screened for content of the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) arachidonic acid (AA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). The aim of the investigation was to establish alternative sources of these PUFAs, which are of importance in human nutrition. As a relatively prolific producer of EPA and AA, P. ultimum ...

Statistical Optimization of Arachidonic Acid Production by Mortierella alpina CBS 754.68 in Submerged Fermentation

Arachidonic acid is an essential fatty acid in human nutrition. In the present study, production of arachidonicacid by Mortierella alpina CBS 754.68 was evaluated in submerged fermentation. The fermentation variableswere selected in accordance with the Plackett-Burman (PB) design and further optimized via response surface methodology (RSM). Five significant variables, namely glucose...
